We’re The Varnadoe Family, and we moved to Colorado from Florida in 2015 after falling in love with the small-town feel in Erie while looking for a great community close to the mountains. 

ESC’s owner and visionary, Nick Varnadoe, has loved watching Erie grow, and wants to be a part of enhancing what the community has to offer by creating a new bar and eatery where friends and family can come to relax and have a good time. We are so excited to serve you! 

Nick is Erie Social Club’s owner and proprietor, husband to Maggie, and Varnadad to Katie and Chris. Nick has been dreaming of opening a bar for years, and we are all so excited to see his dream become a reality. Nick is new to the restaurant industry, but can more than make up for it with his charisma, passion, and willingness to learn. Fun fact: Nick and Maggie worked for Disney (where they met) for about 25 years before moving to Colorado, and Nick’s first job was as a Jungle Cruise Skipper so he’s always ready to entertain (and has great Dad jokes) to keep you company at ESC! 

Maggie is ESC’s co-owner and Nick's partner in all things.  She works full time in the travel industry and loves co-hosting trivia nights at the bar.  Maggie's a yoga teacher and fitness enthusiast who can't get enough of Colorado all year round. You'll likely find her out for a run on the Erie trails or at the Erie Community Center working out or subbing yoga, cycle and barre classes.   

Chris and Sierra joined the family in Colorado in 2020 after moving from Jacksonville, Florida to Lafayette, Colorado. Chris and Sierra love exploring Colorado on the weekends, and will frequently be trying out whatever new specials are on the menu at ESC! 

Katie is our social media specialist as the youngest and most Instagram-influenced member of our family. She's a Mines grad and works in Boulder.  You'll find her at ESC hosting BINGO, Trivia, and book club. She also enjoys our fantastic desserts and charcuterie boards with her fiance, Eli who is a Mines grad turned CU Boulder PhD student. Katie is our Disney-obsessed, book loving daughter and spends her free time reading playing tennis, and baking!

Ollie is the family grand doggie and takes full advantage of Nick and Maggie when he visits Erie for maximum petting and treats. He has a pretty awesome collection of bandanas to elevate his style, and is always looking for new friends to chase squirrels with. 

Sparky and Trixie joined the Varnagang in 2016 as rescue dogs from the Dalmatian Rescue of Colorado. While we aren’t sure exactly what mix of breeds they are, they’re 100% Varnadoes and we love them with 110% of our hearts. They’re littermates who might look alike, but have VERY different personalities. Trixie is our princess puppy and loves getting love from everyone. Sparky is our scaredy-dog with a heart of gold who loves protecting our yard from skunk intruders (but that’s a story for another day). They’re big fans of puppacinos from Erie’s coffee shops, and love walking around Old Town.
